Sri Sankara Matam is located at the birth place of His Holiness Pujyasri place of Sri Chandrashekarendra Saraswathi Maha Swamiji, 68th Pontiff of Sri Kanchi Kamakoti Peetam, in Villupuram, Tamilnadu.

Villupuram town lies on the highway connecting Chennai with Trichy and rest of the South, and is located 40 kms beyond Tindivanam town. The town is well connected by buses and trains with other cities/towns. 

A paduka temple of Sri Mahaswamiji is situated at the Matam. In the year 2004, a stupi was built and consecrated at the Sankara Matam, Villupuram.

Their Holinesses Pujyasri Jayendra Saraswathi Sankaracharya Swamiji and Pujyasri Sankara Vijayendra Saraswathi Sankaracharya Swamiji have camped at the Matam and performed Sri Chandramouleeswara Puja several times during their visits to South Tamilnadu.

The Sankara Matam also has a Krishna Yajur Veda Patasala. Several batches of students have completed their Veda Adhyayana from this Patasala.
